Correction, 24 October 2026. The Sandisk note in the first insight has a 30% buffer: it loses money only below 70% of the starting level, and then only the part of the fall below 70%. The comparison grouped it with notes whose 70% level is a barrier, which lose the whole fall once it is crossed. Against single-stock autocallables of a similar term with a 26% to 30% buffer, the typical coupon over the same twelve months was 18.0% a year (83 notes), and 34% a year still ranks above about 96 in 100 of them. The registry now compares buffers only with buffers.

Correction, 28 October 2026. This issue described three notes' terms loosely. The Sandisk note's 34% coupon is paid only if the shares close at or above 70% of their starting level on a quarterly observation date, not while they stay there (a missed coupon is paid later), and its 30% buffer is geared: below 70%, losses grow 1.43 times as fast as the shares fall, which the note of 24 October left out. The SK hynix digital note's 30% buffer is geared the same way, 1.43 times. The note linked to silver, gold and gold miner funds is not an autocallable: the issuer can call it at its own choice from 7 December 2026. Its 18% a year is paid each month only if the weakest fund closes at or above 85% of its starting level on the observation date, and below 85% its 15% buffer gives way to losses 1.18 times as fast as the fall.

An autocallable linked to Sandisk shares pays far above comparable notes

Issued by Morgan Stanley, the note runs about a year. Its coupon of 34% a year compares with 13.2% for the typical comparable single-stock autocallable and ranks higher than 98 in 100 of the 471 comparable notes. Coupons are paid while Sandisk shares stay at or above 70% of the starting level. At maturity, a buffer absorbs losses down to that same level. Coupons this far above the typical level usually come with more risk to the money invested.

SK hynix shares are new to the registry, in digital notes

Both of this fortnight's notes linked to SK hynix shares are the first in the registry's records, which go back to Dec 23, 2024. Both are digital notes. Instead of a running coupon, they pay a fixed return set at issue if the shares finish at or above a set level. The larger raised $5 million and runs 18 months, with a buffer down to 70% of the starting level.

Gold, silver and gold miner funds in a note that runs only a few months

A worst-of autocallable linked to the iShares Silver Trust, the SPDR Gold Trust and the VanEck Gold Miners ETF runs three months, shorter than almost every autocallable in the registry, where the typical term is three years. It raised $14.8 million and pays 18% a year while the weakest of the three funds stays at or above its coupon trigger. Repayment at maturity depends on a buffer instead: it absorbs the first losses down to 85% of the starting level.
